Players Tour 2-Day at St. Mark

San Marcos, CA | February 20-21, 2021

The first 2-Day of 2021 was hosted by St. Mark Golf Club over the weekend. Unlike the rest of Southern California, we were lucky enough to avoid the surge in high winds, however, very chilly morning temperatures did test a few players both rounds.

After a tough round 1 which showcased a stroke average of 80 for the boys, Jason Pyo of Fullerton was the sole player in red at 2-under. The next player in the hunt was at even par, Xiangguo Zhai from Walnut. Baron Nguyen and Hanru Guo were in a tie for third at 1-over.

Even with an 83 stroke average for the girls, 12-year old Donina Zhou (San Clemente) and 13-year old Annabelle Chan (Walnut) were squaring off at first at 2-over par. Jennifer Gouisikul from Riverside (with her hole-in-one on #6) was sitting in third at 3-over.

Breezy conditions made their way into the final round of the event. At the end of the day, Tay Hwang from Albuquerque managed to elevate himself to third place at +8 total and Alex Wu of Anaheim took second at +7. Our 2019 Lou Bastanchury Award winner, Baron Nguyen of Fountain Valley, was able to secure the win with a solid 2-over finish.

Annabelle Chan and Donina Zhou were able to stay in the top three, finishing third and second with an 11-over finish and 9-over finish, respectively. Zoe Sprecher of Arcadia came in clutch from the penultimate pairing to shoot the only red number of 71 to finish as the champion at 4-over total.
