Players Tour 2-Day at Redhawk
After a nearly three-month long hiatus, The SCPGA Junior Tour implemented new policies and procedures and hosted its first event back at Redhawk Golf Course. The first event in the 2-Day Series consisted of 84 players from The Players Tour and Toyota Tour Cup sporting face coverings. An already difficult course, with afternoon winds, the 72 rating for boys and 76 for girls becomes even more challenging.
After adjusting to the new procedures of not exchanging scorecards, no spectators, and social distancing the girls’ division was led by Lauren Lee, Los Angeles, at 1-under, and Kaili Xiao and Bowen Lan at even par. Steven Chung was the only other player to fire under par at -2 with Trent Hirdler, Xiong Da, and Hunter Swanson in the hunt at even par.
Lauren Lee, Los Angeles, was able to hold onto the win with a 73 final round which consisted of three birdies. Bowen Lan was also able to remain in Runner Up position with her +3 round and Lauren Lee, Irvine, catapulted to third place with her even par for the day, +6 total.
Steven Chung managed to stay and remain the only player under par after two days. He fired a -4, 68 for his win. Kasper Verwers shot -1 today to land him in a runner up position and Hunter Swanson remained consistent and took third with a +3 total for the event.
Thank you to the staff at Redhawk Golf Course, including Head Golf Professional Jeff Sampson. We would also like to thank volunteer John Cole for his long hours dedicated to our tour.
