Karen Tsuru And Connor Williams Start The 2020 TTC Season Off Right

BEAUMONT, CA | The Toyota Tour Cup kicked its season off at Oak Valley Golf Club. This event featured 36 holes over the weekend with a cut down to 50% of the field for a final round on Monday. Round one had a 11 players post rounds at even or better lead by Kyle An (67) and Karen Tsuru (70). However, on ‘moving day’ 15 players posted rounds of even or better with hopes to make the cut. Round two low round honors went to David Cho (65), and Anna Davis (68). Once the final card was in on Sunday, 30 boys and 18 girls could let out a sigh of relief, as they were safe from the cut. Monday’s final round featured more red numbers, multiple lead changes and adjusted tees on the par-4 17th to tempt players to go for the green with water down the entire right side. Davis Lee posted an early 66 to hold the clubhouse lead, but came up short and took solo third. David Cho and Connor Williams were neck and neck down the stretch and came down to the final hole. Cho made birdie to tie, but Williams still had a 10’ putt to save par that he casually rolled in for the win. The Girls Championship also came down to the wire as Dianna Lee birdied the par-5 16th to pull within one of Tsuru going to 17. However, they matched scores on the final two holes to give Tsuru the victory by a single shot. Caroline Wales posted a final round 70 to take solo third.
