ONTARIO, California (December 20th, 2023) The Southern California PGA (SCPGA) is delighted to announce a special donation of $100,000 to the SCPGA Foundation from SCPGA Junior Tour Alumni Max Homa through the Ryder Cup Outreach Program of the PGA of America.
Since the 2023 season, Homa has been dedicated to supporting the SCPGA. During that season, he made a significant contribution to SoCal junior golfers with the naming of the Toyota Tour Cup Max Homa Invitational tournament, a three-day, 54-hole invitational that was ranked by The World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).
The Ryder Cup Outreach Program, an initiative of the PGA of America, provides each member of the U.S. Team with $200,000 to donate to a charity, or charities, of their choice. These biannual gifts have resulted in distributing more than $28.6 million to over 200 charitable organizations since 1999.
Homa has committed half of his designated funds to the SCPGA Foundation to support junior golf programs in Southern California. Max and his wife, Lacey, also donated $100,000 to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Ava’s Tree House.
Homa participated in the SCPGA Junior Tour from 2005-2008 and enjoyed a successful junior golf career before starting his collegiate journey at the University of California. Notably, Homa won medalist honors at the Toyota Tour Cup at SilverRock event in 2008. As one of the most successful alumni of the program, Homa is a six-time PGA Tour Champion, including victories at the Farmers Insurance Open (2023), Fortinet Championship (2022 & 2021), The Genesis Invitational (2021), and the Wells Fargo Championship (2022 & 2019).

Homa continues to be a strong supporter of junior golf, specifically the SCPGA Junior Tour. He will host the second annual Max Homa Invitational, part of the SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup, on February 17-19, 2024, following the PGA TOUR Genesis Invitational.

Established in 1948, the Southern California PGA now hosts one of the largest and most respected junior golf programs in the country. The SCPGA Junior Tour is a three-tiered program featuring the Toyota Tour Cup, the Players Tour and the Junior Development Tour. Together, these three tours administer over 290 tournaments annually for kids of all ages and skill-levels. These events provide playing opportunities throughout Southern California, many of which are hosted by PGA facilities.
