Players Tour 2-Day Spring Series #2 at Olivas Links
March 6-7, 2021
That is a wrap for the second Players Tour 2-day event of 2021, hosted at the beautiful Olivas Links Golf Course. High winds and cool temperatures brought many challenges to the links this past weekend, with scoring averages of 78 for the boys and 81 for the girls.
After tough and windy conditions during round one, Nikki Oh led the girls and came out firing with a solid round of one-under par and Amy Seo was close behind at even par. For the boys, Evan Jiang and Baron Nguyen led at even par and Benjamin Battye and Deok Won Lee trailed at +1 going into the second round.
Quiet winds and overcast skies brought lower scores on day two. Jimin Nam catapulted herself from T17 to outright third place posting the lowest score of the tournament, -3 on the final round. Amy Seo and Lisa Herman battled in a sudden death playoff after two solid rounds and a two day total of 149. At the end of the day, Herman came out with the overall victory sinking a 7 foot birdie putt on the 10th hole to win the playoff and take home the win!
For the boys, Evan Jiang and Baron Nguyen continued to lead the tournament at the turn during round two. Anthony Noh battled his way up the leaderboard from T7 to outright third place and Benjamin Battye posted two solid rounds to finish runner-up. In the end, Nguyen posted two solid even par rounds to take home his second 2021 2-day Spring Series Championship trophy!
