Players Tour Summer Series Championship
August 28-29, 2021 | Temecula Creek Golf Course / Welk Resort
After a grueling summer, the Players Tour concluded its Summer Series at Temecula Creek Inn this past weekend. This year’s Summer Series Championship presented its own challenges with extreme heat, windy conditions, and slight rain.
Nevertheless, our players were able to turn in multiple scores under par during the first day. In the Boy’s 15-18 age division, Eric Cheng led the day with a round of 69 with three other players at 70 (Manuel Huerta, Dillon Kim, Sihwan Lee). For the Girl’s 15-18, Joshlyn Ayala led her division with a round of 70. Four other players trailed with rounds of 75 (Amy DeKock, Emma Thipavong, Cassidy Virzi, and Jessica Wang). In the Boy’s 12-14, Samson Li led the field with a round of even par with Kaiden Hong (+1) and James Leehealey (+3) trailing. The Girls 12-14 saw the low round of the day with Cherry Zhang (-5) leading her age division with Honorine Nobuta Ferry (-1) and Alison Soewito (+1) trailing.
The second round saw a change in the leaderboard across both boy’s divisions. In the Boy’s 15-18 division, Ronny Zheng and Sihwan Lee were able to turn in low rounds to capture a tie for first. On the second hole of the playoff, Sihwan was able to drain a birdie putt to take home the win. Eric Cheng was able to secure a 3rd place finish with an overall score of -4. In the Boy’s 12-14 age division, Enzo Fukushima was able to secure a 1st place finish with a -1 par round. James Leehealey (2nd) and Kaiden Hong (3rd) finished runner-up respectively.
In the Girl’s 15-18 age division, Joshlyn Ayala turned in a round of -5 to hold her lead. Cassidy Virzi finished at a solo second while Jessica Wang and Amy Dekock tied for third. The Girls 12-14 age division also saw Cherry Zhang retain her lead for a first place finish. Honorine Nobuta Ferry improved on her round yesterday and captured 2nd place while Angelina Tao and Rina Kawasaki both tied for third.
And that concludes our Summer Season. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming Fall!

The 9-11 year-olds were at the beautiful Welk Resort. The Series Championship is the only event in the Series that offers our 9-11 Division the opportunity to compete in an 18-hole event and these players did not let us down as we saw multiple red numbers on the board.
The 9-11 Boys Summer Series Champion is Ethan Yu (Newport Coast) who fired a 3-under 59 whose card even had an eagle! In second, Charith Chintam (Irvine) had 6 birdies in route to a 2-under par round. In third, Tristan Gaertner (Sherman Oaks) also had a whopping 5 birdies to post a 1-under round of 61.
It was an adventure to determine the 9-11 Girls Summer Series Champion as we had to do a playoff! Both Loren Fearence (Long Beach) and Hailey Kim (Simi Valley) posted an incredible 4-under round. Loren Fearance, who had an eagle on her 18th hole, was able to secure the win after facing off against Hailey Kim. In third place, Moyu Wang (Irvine) was able to stay in red numbers as well at 2-under par for the day.
And that concludes our Summer Season. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming Fall!
