CITY OF INDUSTRY, California |City of Industry, CA — The Toyota Tour Cup Series returned to Industry Hills Golf Club, home of the SCPGA, on July 15th and 16th, 2019 for its second time this year. 83 players completed 36 holes on the long and tricky Eisenhower Course at Industry Hills Golf Club. The summer’s heat wave was in full effect as the temperatures reached the low-90’s both Monday and Tuesday. However, the high temperatures didn’t keep the players from scoring low.
After the first round, Ashley Yun and You Seong Choi shot mirroring rounds of 67, 5-under par on Monday to lead the field. Kexin Guan and Kylie Chong both were in a tie in second place shooting 68, 4-under par. Carson Kim and Elliot Yoo trailed Choi by two and four strokes, respectively.
By the end of Day two’s competition, Carson Kim shot a 4 under, 68 to finish the tournament at -7. Elliot Yoo followed his 71 with a 4 under-par 68 as well to take solo second. You Seong Choi finished in third individually after shooting a 74 to follow his first round 68, totaling at 3-under for the 36 holes. On the girls championship, Kylee Choi shot a 2nd round best 68 to finish at 5 under-par and her second Toyota Tour Cup Series win this year. Ashley Yun shot a second round 75 to take second place, finishing at 2 under-par. Kylie Chong also shot 75 on round 2 to finish the tournament at 1 under-par and in third place individually. Congratulations to Carson and Kylee!
We would like to give a special shout out to Lindsay Yao on her second Hole-in-one this week on hole number 9, a 124 yard par 3! Great Job Lindsay!
