TEMECULA, California – The Toyota Tour Cup traveled to one of the most difficult courses on the circuit; Redhawk Golf Course in Temecula. The long hitters will need to temper their urge to hit driver as the need to be in the fairway outweighs the distance off the tee. The greens are tiered and treacherous and par is never a bad score on any hole on the course.
Rancho Santa Fe’s Raymond Li was the only boy to come in under par at the conclusion of Saturday’s round holding a two stroke lead heading to the final round. The low round of the tournament would go to Riverside’s Amari Avery who fired a three under par, 69 to take a commanding lead on the field.
The stage was set for an exciting finish as both divisions were still up for grabs on this very tight and challenging layout where even great shots can end up in a difficult spot. Rancho Santa Fe is doing something right as our boys’ champion, Gian-Luca Martinez, is also from the area playing two consistent rounds of 74-71 to capture his first Toyota Tour Cup victory. Amari Avery played another great round (E, 72) and was able to fend off two players on her heels Olivia White (-2, 70), and Brianna Navarrosa (E, 72) and claimed her second career TTC victory.
Congratulations Amari & Luca!
Thank you to Assistant Professional Michael Fagan, and Head Golf Professional Mike Kelly, PGA and all of the Redhawk staff.
