SAN BERNARDINO, California – As the 2019 season is winding to a close, Toyota Tour Cup Members are trying to win as many points as possible to earn their way into the coveted Toyota Tour Cup Championship in December at PGA West. The fourth event before the Championship took place over the weekend at Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino, CA. After a fire watch a couple days before round one commenced, the air cleared and led way to another beautiful Toyota Tour Cup weekend.
The course witnessed a 76.5 scoring average for the boys with 6 eagles holed and an impressive 76.8 average for the girls with 71 total birdies split between the field of 28! Raphael Villarama was the standout, shooting a 4-under 68. Tailing him were Justin Biwer at 3- under, and Trent Hirdler, Connor Reis, and Ryan Voois at 2-under. The Ladies’ Leaderboard had a three-way tie at the top with an even par 72, consisting of Yana Wilson, Grace Kim, and Karen Tsuru.
The players were graced with temperatures in the 70’s and a light breeze for their final round. Through 8 holes, Karen broke away from the pack at 1-under. Yana and Grace still fighting back, stayed consistent at even par. Justin Biwer also took the lead, at 2-under through 10 holes, with Connor and Ryan 1-stroke behind.
Please congratulate Ryan Voois on his first Toyota Tour Cup win (and first TTC Event!) since qualifying in the Spring Q-School. Ryan finished with a 69 today to claim the title at 5-under par. In second, Sihao Cong, Connor Reis, and Justin Biwer at 4-under. Winning her fourth Toyota of the year, Karen Tsuru took it home with an easy 72, even par for the weekend, with 10-year-old Alice Zhao and Yana Wilson claiming ties for second at 1-over for the event.
