This week Toyota Tour Cup tee’d it up at the difficult, scenic, Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club. Wind, heat, steep terrain, and hazard lined fairways tested the player’s physical and mental endurance. Let’s journey into the past and highlight the valiant play conducted by our elite, Tour Cup, athletes.
Round one was kicked off by an astonishing four under par (68) shot by Han Seop Lee. Following right behind him was Tyler Schafer (70) and Cameron Xiao (71), the only players in the entire field to break par. For the girls we had Bella Setio Shoot a steady 73 (even par for the girls). Hailey Borja was one stroke behind miss Setio with a 74 and Madison Wood with a 75. To say the least, it was going to be a tight race.
Day two Han Seop Lee showed laser like focus. Despite the strong wind and steep hills, Han pulled through to shoot a 69 (3 under) with a total of 137 (7 under). This impressive seven under two day total resulted in a five stroke victory. Behind him in solo second place, shooting a steady 72 (even) day two was Tyler Schafer. Finally, in solo third place, shooting 71 (1 under) was Garret Nourse.
Day two for the girls told a similar story. After leading day one with an even par, 73, Bella Setio shot 72 day two (1 under). This is Bella’s third victory on Tour Cup this year! Ke Yang came in solo second with style. Ke shot a 69 (4 under) which was the overall low for the girls. Very impressive and very well earned. Finally in solo third, playing very steady golf, 74 then a closing, even par, 73 was Hailey Borja.
Thank You to Michael Block, PGA and his wonderful staff at Arroyo for all their help and support.
Thanks to our Rules Committee: Carol Stewart, Lynn McClung, and Ed Pernal.
