LA QUINTA, California – The Toyota Tour Cup got its first taste of summer this weekend out at The Golf Club at La Quinta as temperatures hit triple digits. However, this is one of the rare treats where members of the club gather in numbers and position themselves out on each hole providing players with cold water and cold towels to keep them going in the heat.
A new face emerged atop the podium for the boys in Taehoon Song, a first time winner. He played extremely well in the harsh conditions carding rounds of 70 & 68 to finish at six-under par for a one stroke victory. Just one shot back was Shane Ffrench, and in third place at three-under was Brett Sodetz.
The girls, however, had a familiar face taking home the hardware with rounds of even par each day. Amari Avery is on a furious pace on the season with three finishes inside the top five followed by three wins in a row and the fourth of her career. Second place went to Catherine Park and third by way of a scorecard playoff was Serena Sepersky.
Congratulations to our champions!
