MURRIETA, California – The first Players Tour 2-Day of the year started out with a 40 minute frost delay at The Golf Club at Rancho California in Murietta. After the delay, the chilly early morning conditions proved a tough test of golf, however, as the day progressed the weather warmed up. Both girls and boys divisions started the year off right with full fields. It is always great to see maximum participation.
The Girls were led by Katie Ha and Ahyeon Yang going into Sunday’s round after they both carded a 3 over 75 in their first round.
The Boys leader was Andrew Wang who shot 72 and had high hopes of hanging on to his lead during the Sunday round.
Day 2 saw some shuffling of the leaderboard. Girls winner Anna Davis, who carded a first round 6-over 78, came roaring into day two. She finished her back nine 1-under to pull off the win by two strokes. She finished the tournament with a 7-over 151, followed by Ayheon Yang in second, and a two-way tie for third between Brianna Park and Katie Ha.
On the boys side Howon Kim also bounced back from an opening round 76, shooting an even par 72 to claim the victory. Andrew Wang ended up finishing in solo second, followed by Ryan Abuan in third.
