
San Jacinto, California | The 59th California State Junior Amateur Championship concluded at Soboba Springs Golf Course. Players had to qualify through various different avenues in order to participate in this prestigious Championship. Past champions of the tournament include Pat Perez (1993), Rickie Fowler (2005), and Bryson DeChambeau (2010).
Taehoon Song of Buena Park claimed the Championship title with stellar scores of 67-67 for a two-day total 10-under par, 134. Song started his second round off shaky with a double-bogey on the par-4 2nd, his only double-bogey of the tournament. After settling down, he preceded to finish his round with seven birdies for a two-stroke margin of victory.
Cutter Ayres of Visalia finished in solo second with scores of 69-67 for a tournament total eight-under par, 136. Francis Catalano of Camarillo and Jack Smyth of Tustin finished in a tie for third with 6-under par, 138’s.
