MEXICO CITY, Mexico – Phil Mickelson was able to convert his third WGC victory of his career Sunday in dramatic fashion over Justin Thomas. A stellar weekend of 65-66 put Mickelson in prime position to win his first tournament in five years. All that was needed was a par on his first playoff hole in order to hoist the long overdue trophy that has been alluding him as of late. Mickelson has put himself in contention in recent weeks with his 4th consecutive top-10 finish which makes this victory all the more sweeter.

Justin Thomas pulled off some Sunday heroics to force his way into the playoff by holing out for eagle on his final hole. However, he was unable to sink his par putt in the playoff.
Phil Mickelson after the victory left fans and this, ” To have the belief that I was going to get there and finally break through and do it feels incredible. I believe that more is to come”.
