SANTA BARBARA, CA – Clay Seeber of Newport Beach and Karen Tsuru of Carlsbad win the 2018 Toyota Tour Cup Championship wire-to-wire at Sandpiper Golf Club!
With players accepted in order of their Player of the Year standings, the full-field of 90 players represented the best of the best in the year-end Championship. An extremely windy first round challenged the seasoned Toyota Tour Cup members and it was the imminent champions Seeber and Tsuru holding the top spots on the leaderboard after 18-holes.
Heading into the final round, early conditions were ideal and the scores from the field reflected it despite the tucked pin locations. Boys division champion Seeber followed up his even-par first round with a one-under to finish the Championship 72/71 for a two-day total of 143. Tsuru carried over a two-stroke lead in the from the first round and won the girls division with a 74/73, two-day 147. Tsuru has had a great season and is fresh off a team victory, claiming 2018 PGA Jr. League Championship national title!
As this is the final Toyota Tour Cup event of the season, the finalized Player of the Year points sees Taehoon Song of Buena Park taking the POY title for the boys, and Serena Speresky of Temecula taking it for the girls.
