POMONA – Each January, the SCPGA Junior Tour hosts the annual Banquet of Champions, a night dedicated to celebrating the past season’s accomplishments. Recognizing not only those players who have excelled on the course, but also the people and organizations who have supported junior golf. In attendance were players and their family, in addition to representatives from Oak Valley Golf Club, LPGA TOUR player Lizette Salas, the SCPGA Advisory Committee, and several SCPGA Section Board Members. Bill Bryant founded the Junior Golf Association of Southern California along with Ralph Miller in 1948 and served as the Association’s President until 1983. The Bill Bryant Award was created after his passing to recognize individuals who have shown distinguished service and support to the SCPGA Junior Tour.
In 1984, the Club Award was created to acknowledge and thank clubs/organizations who have demonstrated outstanding support of junior golf and the SCPGA Junior Tour. AWARD ACCEPTED By: Paul Hjulberg, PGA & Huey Yu
Beginning in 1999, the SCPGA Foundation has annually recognized a junior golfer who exemplifies outstanding character, sportsmanship, and leadership. The recipient of this award has demonstrated a positive influence on their fellow SCPGA Junior Tour Members and has set a notable example for all others to emulate.
This award was estabished in 1989, after Lou Bastanchury for his dedication to junior golf. The award is given to the boy who earned the most combined Player of the Year Points throughout the year.
The Amy Alcott Award is given to the girl who earned the most combined Player of the Year Points throughout the year. During Alcott’s 27-year career she won 32 professional tournaments worldwide including five major championships. Alcott is a member of the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame.
The TTC Player of the Year is awarded to the boy and girl with the most player of the year points at the end of the season.
The Howard Smith Award is presented to the boy and girl Junior Golfers who retain the lowest scoring average within the TTC series with a minimum of (4) events played.
Sepersky Scoring Average: 73.44
Pan Scoring Average: 71.33
The Ralph Miller Award is presented to the boy and girl members of the program who earned the most points in recognized events.–
The player receiving the most number of votes from the All Southern California Junior Teams ballot becomes the Curtis Cup Player of the Year.
