VALLEY CENTER, CA – The Toyota Tour Cup traveled to Valley Center this weekend at Woods Valley Golf Club. The first day of play saw low scores from many of the juniors. Darien Zhao, Joshua Hu, and Adrian Soriano were gridlocked at the top of the boys’ leaderboard with a trio of four-under, 68’s. For the girls championship, Dianna Lee fired an opening round six-under, 66 to take the overnight lead by six shots. Her closest competitors were Alexis Kim sitting at even-par, 72 with Anna Davis and Kylee Choi both at one-over 73.
Sunday’s final round yielded even more low rounds from the boys but Darien Zhao of San Diego was able to pull away from the pack. He was able to follow up his opening round 68 with an even lower five-under, 67 bringing his two-day total to nine-under, 135. Three shots behind at six-under was Joshua Hu after posting a second round 70. Rounding out the boys’ winner’s circle was Adrian Soriano with a two-day total of two-under, 142. Shout-out to Jason Zhang for carding an Albatross on the par-five 11th! The girls championship came down to the wire as Frances Kim fired the low round of the day with a three-under final round bringing her within one stroke of the lead and taking solo second with Anna Davis rounding out the top-three. However, it was Dianna Lee from San Diego holding off the field to pull off a narrow victory by a single shot.
This was Darien and Dianna’s first career Toyota Tour Cup victory.
Congratulations to our newest champions!
