CITY OF INDUSTRY – The Toyota Tour Cup stopped in at the home of the SCPGA, Industry Hills Golf Club. The boys went off on the very tight and tricky Zaharias “Babe” Course while the girls challenged the Eisenhower “Ike” Course that features many severe elevation changes as well as tight fairways that demands accuracy off the tee.
The Ike, as expected, proved that it is difficult to score as it yeilded only seven rounds in the red. However, one was able to stay in the red both rounds. Kamille Dimayuga fired rounds of 71-69 to claim her first career TTC victory and finish with a five stroke advantage over Las Vegas’ Veronica Joels at +1, 145, and Daisy Wan, Ashley Yun at +3, 147.
Out on the Babe scores were also as expected where only ten red numbers came in for the two days. This side’s extremely tight fairways and small greens protect itself from surrendering birdies on the short holes. This is not a bombers course in any way and it’s not surprising that the long hitters remained out of the winners circle. All three of the boys winners kept it at even par or better for the two days and were all first-timers to the podium. Michael Sarro claims his first career TTC victory with a two-under par total 140 just edging out Andrew Hoekstra at -1, 141, and Luke Potter and Joseph Zambri at E, 142.
Congratulations to our newest champions! They are also the lucky recipients of a new TLINK GPS golf watch!
