The first Players Tour 2-day event of the year was hosted at The Golf Club at Rancho California in Murrieta. A solid field of almost 90 players was ready to go for the early morning start but unfortunately, nature was conspiring against us. The morning dawned clear and cold with frost covering the entire course making it impossible to tee off at the scheduled time. The course and SCPGA Staff did a good job of monitoring the system and had the first tees ready to go and players in place a mere twenty minutes after the delay was lifted. One highlight of the first round was Ruiheng Xiong leaving his second shot in the hole on the par 5 13th hole for an albatross! Congratulations!
Day two was just a few degrees warmer but it was enough for all the groups to start off on time. The second round had great golf weather with temps reaching into the high 60’s. Scores for the event were as good as expected as you needed to be under par to take home the first place trophy. The results for the event are.
- Ahyeon Yang (-4) 140
- Megan Gormley (+6) 153
- Estibaly Garcia (+7) 154
- Connor O’Brien (-5) 139
- Adrian Chiu (-1) 143
- Eric Lee (+1) 145
