OJAI, California – For the fourth year in a row, Ojai Valley Inn hosted the Toyota Tour Cup! This time around it was only the boys at the Inn while the girls competed up the road at Soule Park GC. Both of these host sites feature a layout by George C. Thomas (Riviera CC, LACC) and would certainly provide a beautiful, yet fun & challenging, place to compete.
Round one had an incredible 23 boys posting rounds of even par or better and an overall stroke average of 72.61! The tournament low was posted by Michael Ma in the house Saturday with a -6, 64 to hold the overnight lead by a single stroke over three others (Koo, Lee, Leach). Sunday’s final round saw much of the same with 25 players posting rounds of even par or better. However, there was a shift at the top and only one from the final pairing remained in the top three (Ma). Tegan Andrews fired the low round of the day (65) and held the early lead and anxiously awaited the final results. However, playing in his first ever TTC event, Dahoon Yang remained consistent and followed up his opening 67 with a closing 66 to just edge out Andrews by one finishing at -7 for the weekend and capturing his first title!
Shout out to Timothy Jung for carding a Hole-In-One on the eighth hole during round one!
For the Girls Championship Angela, Heo came from three strokes behind after day one firing a closing -4, 68 to finish at -6 overall and captured her first TTC title! She found herself in the lead thru nine holes but a birdie in the closing three holes would help solidify her win by a single stroke over Yurang Li. Li lead round one posting a tournament low, 67 and followed it up with a 72 to take second place. Ashley Kim took solo third with rounds of 69-72. Shout-out to Sungchae Park for carding a Hole-In-One on the 185 yd par-3 sixth hole! The overall stroke average for this championship was 75.72. Congratulations to our top finishers!
