TUSTIN, California – Tustin Ranch Golf Club played host to the Toyota Tour Cup again this year and did not disappoint. The weather was fantastic and the course was in wonderful shape. It was a very tight race at the top of the leaderboard with the top ten in boys separated by only three strokes and the top six for girls by only four strokes!
By the time all cards were signed and in the house, we had two boys and three girls tied for the top spot! They were all loaded up on carts and shuttled out to the challenging 18th tee for a sudden death playoff for the top prize. Peter Di Bernardo just missed the green to the right but had an extremely difficult up and down left while Lincoln Melcher was already in close to about 10 feet after a great approach. Lincoln did not convert the birdie putt, but the tap-in par was good enough to win the hole and claim his first TTC victory in his young career. The girls followed the boys in with Emily Lee and Therese Warner on in regulation and Annabelle Mascot just off short right of the green. Mascot had a very difficult shot ahead of her, but managed to leave herself a makeable putt for par. Lee was on the surface but had a 40 footer with a severe slope to navigate and nestled it in about five feet away. However, Warner was tucked with about five feet left for birdie. Mascot drained her par putt to really put the pressure on the other two, but Therese calmly rolled in the birdie to secure the win.
Congratulations to our Champions: Therese Warner and Lincoln Melcher
