Dear Players and Parents,
For those new to the program we would like to welcome you and for those “veterans” out there, welcome back! As we head into another great year of golf with the SCPGA Junior Tour, we would like to take the time to inform our membership of some changes for the year, and also touch on some issues we feel are important. Please take the time to read this e-mail as it has answers to questions we are already fielding here at the offices, and will also provide information to questions you might have in the future.
SPECTATOR BADGE POLICY
Membership packets will not be mailed out this year. The most important part of the packets was of course the spectator badges that are REQUIRED to be displayed by ALL spectators who wish to follow their players as they compete. Starting in 2017, spectator badges will be sold at the registration booth at all events on all tours for a nominal fee of $1.00. In the past we have charged $5.00 for badges but we are reducing that fee to make the spectating experience more accessible for all our players’ family members and friends that would like to watch them play. The purpose of the badges is to ensure we know who is out on the course with our junior golfers as our players’ safety is extremely important to us. Please plan ahead to make sure you have a couple of dollars in cash at your player’s first event in order to purchase the required badge. A great tip a lot of our parents use is to keep the badge(s) in their player’s golf bag. They are small and light and will always be with the player at a tournament.
SPECTATOR CART POLICY
The spectator cart policy remains the same for 2017. If you or a family member has a legitimate, doctor diagnosed illness or disability, you need to send a copy of a doctor’s note or paperwork verifying this to the SCPGA offices. Spectator cart applications can be found here, and must be completed and sent to the offices in order to have a spectator cart badge mailed to you. Our team leaders in the field are not equipped to issue cart badges nor are they authorized to do so. If you feel that you may have the need at any time during the 2017 season for a cart, now is the time to request it.
Players in the past have received bag tags with their names and we will continue to do this but only for selected events such as invitationals or tournament of champions type of events. SCPGA tournament “Hard Cards” will be available at all tournaments from the event’s team leader, generally on the first tee. These cards contain rules variations and explanations common to all SCPGA Junior events. All players are strongly urged to keep a “Hard Card” in their golf bag while participating in all SCPGA events.
Thank you and have a great year!
