The Players Tour has been action packed as the Summer Series winds down to the Bridgestone Championship hosted by River Ridge Golf Club August 30-31st. Alongside the different single day events, the SCPGA/LA County 2-Day events and the PING 2-Day Summer Championship Series The 2014 Junior Match Play Championship served as a unique format and series staple as it took place July 28-30 over three prestigious Orange County venues.

Dove Canyon Golf Club hosted the “seeding round” on Monday July 28th for the matches to take place the following 2 days. With absolute pristine playing and weather conditions, Dove Canyon Golf Club has established itself as one of the most impressive host facilities in the entirety of the 2014 summer schedule and provided a true measure of talent for all 86 players active in the field. In total, twenty four players moved on to the first round of matches at Oak Creek Golf Club as they took on the immaculate Fazio design to determine the Individual Semi-Finalist. The Girls division played 18 holes of match play to narrow the advancing field to 4 players while the players that advanced in the boys division took on 36 holes of match play to also cut the field to 4. In total 8 players moved on to compete in the Semi Final Matches hosted by Seacliff Country Club in Huntington Beach, CA.

The Girls Final Match consisted of Tara Finigan from Trabuco Canyon, CA and Chayse Gomez from Orange, CA as they battled back and forth for the duration of the afternoon to take the match to the 18th hole. Chayse Gomez took home Girls individual first place honors as she won her match 2UP. The Final Boys Match consisted of Jordan McBrayer from Carlsbad, CA and Alexander Pak from San Clemente, CA. McBrayer advanced into the finals beating out Shane Barreira 1UP to take on Pak who advanced by means of a playoff with Edwin Kuang. In the Final Match, Pak separated himself and won 4 and 3 to take home individual first place honors. The Southern California PGA would like to thank Dove Canyon Golf Club, Oak Creek Golf Club, Seacliff Country Club and Chris Gilley, PGA for hosting the 2014 Junior Match Play Championship and making this event a great success again this year.
